Our pupusa revuelta is made eastern Salvadoran style: chicharrón and cheese, no beans. It is how our grandmothers taught us, and it is how we serve it here, every day, handmade one at a time with fresh corn masa, cooked on the comal, and served with fresh curtido and homemade red salsa.
Why our revuelta has no beans
In eastern El Salvador, the traditional pupusa revuelta is made with chicharrón and cheese. No beans. The version with beans is more common in other parts of the country, but in the east the original recipe is this one — and that is what we serve here because that is how we learned to make it.
Why no beans in the revuelta? That's how it's eaten in the east.
When people ask "why no beans in the revuelta?", the answer is simple: that is how it is eaten in the east. If you want beans, we also have pupusas with frijol con queso or frijol con loroco. But the house revuelta is eastern style.
How it is made
Each pupusa is patted by hand, one at a time. We use fresh corn masa, homemade ground chicharrón (not bagged), and fresh Salvadoran queso. The filling is mixed and sealed inside the masa, then cooked on the comal until the masa browns and the cheese inside melts.
There is no quick version. If you come during peak hours, pupusas are made fresh when your order is placed — that is why the plantain leaves and the comal stay active all day.
How the pupusa is served
Each pupusa comes with:
- Fresh curtido (cabbage, carrot, and vinegar)
- Homemade red salsa served warm
The traditional way to eat it: put curtido on top, add a little salsa, and eat it with your hands. No fork needed.

The pupusa special does not apply to all pupusas:
- Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 11am to 8pm: Pupusa Revuelta at $1.75 each
- Thursday, 11am to 8pm: Pupusa de Frijol con Queso at $1.00
- Other pupusas stay at the regular price of $2.99

Does the special apply to all pupusas?
No. The Pupusa Revuelta is $1.75 only Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 11am to 8pm. The Pupusa de Frijol con Queso is $1.00 only on Thursdays during the same window. Other pupusas remain at their regular price of $2.99.
Do you have flour masa pupusas?
Yes. The standard masa is corn, but we also offer flour masa if you prefer. Let us know when you order.
How many pupusas does one person usually order?
People usually order between 2 and 4 pupusas per person, depending on appetite. If you are with a group, we recommend ordering some variety — revuelta, frijol con queso, queso con loroco — to try different fillings.
